"After we left the Desmond Tutu Hall camp and attended the Lucca leadership programme we realised that the only way to break down barriers was through interaction"
For the last year and a half two creative Zimbabweans, Juma and Willard, have hustled their way from the robots on Roeland Street to a studio in Woodstock, Cape Town, crafting everything from bags made out of old t-shirts to recycled crate-chairs for corporate clients like Redbull. Not content to just be small time capitalists, from Mondays to Fridays they run art and craft workshops for 100 kids in Khayelitsha and on Saturday mornings they teach conversational English with a group called Chatterbox (made up of primary school kids). This is their story...

Lucca Leadership thinks Ceol are really making a difference
Here is a great organisation that is doing amazing things...
Ceol has gone digital. A summer course has been run, on-line, via Irish National Teacher’s Organisation. This is so successful that it is being continued for the coming year.
The training that had been conducted face-to-face is from 1st September 2010, being done by DVD with a view to transferring to Ceol’s website on-line. A Members’ Forum has been activated in the past few days. This will be accessed by teachers who are implementing the Ceol programmes. They can discuss issues with one another and seek support from the Ceol personnel.
These new developments are being run in tandem with an optional face-to-face training and printed materials. As time goes by, it is hoped that there will be less face-to-face and more digital resources. This will enable easier access to the programmes, greater scope and scale of Ceol programmes in pre-schools and primary schools throughout the country and beyond.

Lucca Leadership on Servant Leadership
Servant Leadership
Robert Greenleaf is recognized as the father of servant leadership. Greenleaf (1977) described servant leadership in this manner:
"It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead…The difference manifest itself in the care taken by the servant-first to make sure that other people’s highest priority needs are being served. The best test, and difficult to administer, is: do those served grow as persons, do they grow while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants?
